Description/Features

The Altama® 8" EXOSpeed II Boot employs trail running shoe materials and technology to achieve a light weight, fatigue reduction and performance enhancement. The EXOSpeed II is completely non-metallic. The EXOSpeed I has a circular metallic drainage vent. This has been replaced in the EXOSpeed II with a molded instep air vent. The all exterior mesh has also been eliminated and replaced with Cordura®. Now air mesh is only on the inside of the EXOSpeed II. In addition, all TPU has been removed in the upper and the sole. By removing the air mesh and the TPU, this allowed Altama® to modify the upper design for the new look of the EXOSpeed II.

  • Nylon and Leather upper (Black); Nylon and Suede upper (Tan)
  • Airmesh lining
  • Molded vent screen
  • Medial side ventilation and moisture dissipating
  • Perforation pattern in ankle area further improves ventilation
  • Removable double density footbed with shock pads in heel and forefoot
  • Moisture wicking top liner
  • Aero Spacer mesh lining
  • Midsole is molded EVA for "running shoe" comfort
  • Altama's "last shape" hugs the foot
  • Molded cushion midsole
  • Contoured around the heel to avoid slip-reducing friction and perspiration while improving stability
  • Removable molded footbed
  • Shock pads
  • Non-metallic shank
  • Molded resin and nylon - there are no metal parts in the boot
  • Closed "speed laces" make adjustment faster as the laces glide smoothly
  • Non-marking rubber outsole is made from slip and oil resistant compound

Excellent overall

Did a 10 mile ruck march in them last week. Very comfortable on the feet overall. My only qualm was that, about 4 miles in, the molded area around the ankle/back of foot began to cut into the bottom of my left ankle on each step (probably did this the entire walk but it started to hurt at mi 4). Found a sock/boot full of bloodstains once done. Didn't have prob with my right foot, so it's probably more of my walking posture, which I'll need to address next time with different socks or some extra padding. I don't have such problems when I wear standard issue, however, not nearly as comfortable overall as these Altamas.

With in the Regs

I have worn these boots for 2 years, up and down range. Their performance is excellent in the wear department, comfort outstanding (ran a 3 mile boot run in them) and best of all their within the Army regs.

Almost the best boot!

I would give these a 5 star rated except that the lacing could use some work. Not a boot you would want to put on and lace if you are in a hurry, like in a training environment where time is of the essence. I.E.-OSC, or anything of the sorts. Other than that it is by far the most comfortable boot I have ever worn. I have never found a boot that I could wear all day and be happy I am wearing them by the end of the day. These I can actually say that. The best boot hands down! Feels just like my favorite pair of running shoes. A must have if you do a lot of running in your boots.
