The Improved 5-Part ACU Sleep System is constructed to insulate the user in environments ranging from mild weather to extremely cold weather. The system consists of two Mummy-style sleeping bags--the Patrol (Foliage) and the Intermediate Cold Weather (Urban Grey). Each are constructed of water-resistant, ripstop nylon. Each sleeping bag is fully functional independently. For a temperature to -30°, insert the Intermediate Cold Weather bag inside the Patrol bag. Each bag is compatible with the vapor permeable bivy cover. When all 3 components are used together the system is rated to provide 4 hours sleep at -40°F. Non-flammable and machine washable. This 5-part system includes a second smaller stuff sack.

Great Sleep System

I was very impressed by the video for the improved 5-part Sleep System. It thoroughly explained the main features of each part, and provided an easy to follow step-by-step procedure for placing each part together. I especially liked the snaps that connect each part so that only one zipper is required to combine and close the bag(s). The venting system, and the material used at the zipper to keep cold air flow from penetrating is another great feature of this very well designed system. I've used other systems both as a soldier and civilian, and this one combines some of the good features of the other systems I've used, as well as providing some new ones. I look forward to getting mine and trying it out!
