Hooha for HooDoo

I purchased a pair of these because of the company and a positive comment by a friend. I was NOT disappointed. I have worn them for two days straight and NEVER had sore feet. Under ALL circumstances, they have perform positively beyond expectation. I LOVE these boots. I have a ‘combat injury’ and titanium in one foot as a result. NO issue here! For me personally, these are ‘bar none’ the best boots I have ever owned. They perform as advertised and are as comfortable or more comfortable than a pair of high quality name brand running/sports shoes. I am buying a pair for my wife so that we both have a pair for our BOB/SHTF kits.I could hike all day in these with absolutely no issues of any kind.

Update: Falling Apart

I purchased these boots 5 months ago hoping to use them for our upcoming deployment. About three months into buying them the inside of the left boot started to fall apart above the heel near the ankle, it started as a little stitching coming undone but now five months into it there's a 2 inch hole that makes these boots pretty much worthless. Water easily enters the hole therefore your socks are soaked. You also can not tighten the boots tight enough since the hole will only get bigger. A buddy also purchased these boots and his right boot is also coming undone but on the outside of the boot. I called trying to see if anything could be done but they said since its out of the 30 day window there's nothing they could do. What boots fall apart only 30 days into it? Overall, not a good investment.

Ok boot, not up to par though

The boots appear decently made however, they are not matches. What I mean is, the boots both look like they are right boots even though the left one is indeed a left boot. The manufacturing of is not consistent, the left boot should not make you do a double take to see that it really is a left boot. The opposite curvature of the toes do not look the same. Also, I have never had problems with boots fitting and these are tight in the toe and around the instep. I will bear with it because I wanted a decently ventilated boot, and hopefully they grow on me. Note, had to change out the inserts, they offer no arch support at all(I have normal arches).

Greatness

I purchased these boots a while back and have been fully satisfied ever since. Been in the military for 3 years now and these are by far the best boots I've worn. I use these boots for going on rucks, patrols, and anything during training. My feet are able to breath and during the rain they dry rather quickly. There also extremely light and the most comfortable pair of boots I have. So far I haven't anything negative to say about these boots but as soon I do (or if i do) I'll post. As of right now, these boots are definitely worth it and the price of them are also good. Overall, excellent product.

Awesome Boots for an Awesome Price!

After having had a great experience with the New Balance OTB Desertlite boots, I had confidence that the designer's new brand, Sand Storm, would deliver quality combat boots. Although I've only had the boots for a a few months, there are some features that are worth mentioning that make the HooDoo a great boot, especially for ground pounders. The outsole's updated Panama-style design has allowed the boot to have much better grip on loose dirt, as a result of the deep widened lugs, than other outsole design. The sticky rubber outsole is also great for use indoors which provide better traction on tile floors.
The finger loop is large enough to use while wearing tactical gloves. The mesh panels allow for much better air-flow throughout the boot than other kinds of boots, which is a relief while conducting ruck marches in the Arizona heat. The boots are much lighter than they look and are not bulky. However, I would like to see future boots be even more form-fitting and have less leather(and more stretch-proof nylon straps) used on the upper mesh panels. The mesh fabric drainage ports are a great improvement from the metal ones. My only suggestion would be to have three drainage ports on each boot instead of two, in order to allow water to drain quicker from the boots.
The only two complaints I have about the HooDoo is that the mesh panels and laces have a bit of a glare when in the light. I would like to see if different fabrics can be used in order to reduce the glare without compromising the level of air flow throughout the mesh. Also, the laces are too short. By making them longer, it will make tying the boots up much quicker and easier.
My final assessment: I would definitely wear these boots on deployment over my Danner Army Kinetic, Danner Rivot TFX, New Balance Desertlite, Belleville 310, and Belleville DES 390. All of which are good boots with their own strengths and weaknesses, but the HooDoo is just superior in terms of function. Whether the HooDoo's quality stands up to the test of time has yet to be seen...
