Decent item
This item works well though could be better built but even this version which Ive actually used and applied did the job

Worth every penny
I'm not sure what Devin was doing with his CAT tourniquet, but this thing is worth every penny. Having seen the CAT in use, it's definately one of those essential items you never want to leave the wire without.

It works.
One of our guys recently had to use one of these here in Iraq on a soldier wounded in his forearm.
It worked.
No other praise needed. It may be plastic, but so is most of the hardware on a lot of things being carried these days including packs, rifle slings (not sure my rifle sling has ANY metal on it) and the like. I don't have any issues with it other than perhaps there are designs around which are faster to apply. If you have to purchase one and know of a metal one for cheaper, go for it, but the design works and does what it is supposed to.
That said, ask around before purchasing one of these if purchasing for Iraq. I was issued one when I got here, and another just in case. If you need it, chances are you can get one for free.

Out of your friggin minds...
The CAT is a great idea, but this version sucks. Find the more rugged versions with the metal stick and stronger straps. Cheap plastic won't stand up to the stresses of Iraq, trust me. I wouldn't take one of these for free, let alone spend $32 on it. WAY too expensive!
