Sized for a three-day excursion, the 5.11 Tactical RUSH 72 Backpack is loaded with features operators need and want. Designed by special operations combat veteran Kyle Lamb of VTAC, this backpack comes with two large compartments and a compression strap system that allows expandability depending upon how much gear you carry.

The front section of the pack includes an organizer panel with two zippered mesh compartments; a large zippered pocket, a key fob and radio/magazine pockets with hook-and-loop straps. The main compartment has three mesh zippered pockets and a separate large cinch pocket.

There are two full-length side pockets that can handle a variety of different items including large water bottles. The top of the backpack has a separate fleece lined eyeglass pocket and a smaller external zippered gear pocket.

MOLLE-compatible webbing has been added to the front and side of the pack, allowing you to attach a host of different 5.11's SlickStick accessory pouches. The padded shoulder straps also have MOLLE-compatible webbing along with an adjustable sternum strap. The padded waist straps can be stowed away in hidden pockets and the padded back allows ventilation for those long hikes. The RUSH 72 also includes a reinforced hydration pocket that allows you to add a hydration bladder for immediate access to water. The pack is finished off with a heavy-duty nylon carry handle at the top.

The RUSH 72 Backpack is a high-end backpack with a low-end price. The variety of features along with the practical design makes this backpack a superior value. 5.11 Tactical is proud to have partnered with Kyle Lamb to provide such a full-featured pack at such a great price.

Outstanding Pack
In the age of featherweight gear, it's nice to have a pack that can stand up to the abuse I dish out to gear. This pack is an example of sturdy, well-made gear. The in-pack organization is well thought out for the most part. The material and zippers are robust. The load distribution and lumbar support may not be on par with $500 packs, but are adequate - at least for me - and I carry quite a bit of gear long distances. A few minor issues: 1. The pass-though for the hydration system hose is a bit awkward, making filling/changing the hydration bladder more time consuming than it should be. 2. I would like to have more attachment points - particularly on the bottom and very top of the pack. When I attach bulky items (such as a cold weather sleeping bag), I generally prefer it on the top of the pack (or bottom for heavier items). This is not feasible with the current attachment points. 3. Molle attachment points on the waist strap would be helpful. Overall however, it is an outstanding, durable pack.

Excellent Backpack For Travelers
2 years ago I bought this backpack and will continue to use it as my go-to carry-on for traveling. It holds everything I need to have at my fingertips, with space to spare. There are a variety of compartments and as many ways to access them. On a typical trip I’ll store a large bottle of water, my computer, Kindle, iPod, nano, electrical cords, sunglasses, voltage converters, extension cords, sweats, sweat shirt, sandals, spare batteries, toiletries, pens, keys, wallet, passport, navigation system and power cords, to name a few. The backpack zippers are top-notch and ballistic nylon shows no signs of wear. A military backpack, this thing’s perfect for the serious traveler. Highly recommended.

Exactly what I wanted
I received my 5.11 Rush 72 pack yesterday so I've admittedly not had a chance to put too much abuse on it. It's large. I have a feeling that if I loaded this thing to the max, I wouldn't want to carry it. But the compression straps keep the overall profile of the pack as small as possible when not fully loaded. Fully packed with stretched seams, I could probably live out of this thing for a whole week. The quality is very good. The compartments are thoughtfully planned. There are a boatload of internal pockets to organize and distribute your stuff. The yoke strap system is very comfortable as are the sternum strap (nice elastic -- I can breath again!) and waist belt. There are just a lot of little features that I notice that make me think 'it's about time someone thought of that!' Overall, the pack is far better than I would have imagined at this price. A word on US Cavalry... I live close to one of their distribution centers so I expected my order to arrive quickly. I did NOT, however, expect my pack to arrive at my doorstep within 30 hours of placing the order on the website. That's a pretty cool trick, guys! Of course, when the price is right and the service is good, you know I'll be back. Thanks!

all-some pack
I bought this bag cause of all the things you can do wuth it and many other reasons. first this bag is big and strong. thier`s lots of attachment straps for extra add on pouches. on the inside thier`s lots of ways to put your gear in order so you can get to them. thier`s a pocket just for a water bladder. this bag is confourable to cary and wear. i bought it for a bug out bag for a friend and still have lots of room left. if you need a good pack i think it would be a good choice. i might get one for me. i do alot of hikking and fishing and some other outdoor activies. i hop this review helps you all. its worth the money.
