The Altama 8 In. EXOSpeed II Boot employs trail running shoe materials and technology to achieve a light weight, fatigue reduction and performance enhancement. The EXOSpeed II is completely non-metallic. The EXOSpeed I has a circular metallic drainage vent. This has been replaced in the EXOSpeed II with a molded instep air vent. The all exterior mesh has also been eliminated and replaced with Cordura®. Now air mesh is only on the inside of the EXOSpeed II. In addition, all TPU has been removed in the upper and the sole. By removing the air mesh and the TPU, this allowed Altama® to modify the upper design for the new look of the EXOSpeed II.

  • Nylon and Leather upper (Black); Nylon and Suede upper (Tan)
  • Airmesh lining
  • Molded vent screen
  • Medial side ventilation and moisture dissipating
  • Perforation pattern in ankle area further improves ventilation
  • Removable double density footbed with shock pads in heel and forefoot
  • Moisture wicking top liner
  • Aero Spacer mesh lining
  • Midsole is molded EVA for "running shoe" comfort
  • Altama's "last shape" hugs the foot
  • Molded cushion midsole
  • Contoured around the heel to avoid slip-reducing friction and perspiration while improving stability
  • Removable molded footbed
  • Shock pads
  • Non-metallic shank
  • Molded resin and nylon - there are no metal parts in the boot
  • Closed "speed laces" make adjustment faster as the laces glide smoothly
  • Non-marking rubber outsole is made from slip and oil resistant compound
  • Tread pattern is "open" to avoid trapping debris in the lugs
  • HEIGHT: 8.00"
  • Imported

great boot
This boot is the lightest most comfortable boot i have ever worn right out of the box. I walk three miles to work in them and i still had the energy and stamina to do my job. Thanks uscav and altama for a really fine product at a great price. im thinking of buying a second pair for the summer time. Again damn fine job.

Lightest boot!
I was looking for a great boot with a great price tag to upgrade from standard issue...this is it. First time putting it on my foot it fit and felt like a glove. It is as light or lighter than my tennis shoes with the sturdiness of an ankle brace. Thanks USCAV and Altama for a great first buy.

Excellent Boot
These boots are incredibly comfortable. As a former service member I still like to wear boots to my civilian job. I honestly want to get another pair of them they are so comfortable. They wear comfortably and feel like Oakleys, but weigh less than the Nike running boots. The main reason I chose these over the Nikes was the Nikes felt like a pair of socks falling down all the time. The Altamas don't have this issue due to the reinforced upper. As for sizing I went up a full size and they fit great. Highly recommend these boots.

Leather Running Shoes
BLUF-Need comfortable boots, buy these. After spending 9 years in standard issue style Altama boots, I was looking for a replacement. I tried several brands to include BlackHawk's, Oakley's, OTB Desert Lite's (great boots but too much arch support), Belville's etc, and ended up ironically coming full circle back to Altama for what I was looking for. The original EXOSpeed's left a little to be desired, but Altama got this one right. By far the closest thing to (leather) running shoes I have come across. For details and pro's vs. cons, keep reading. Pros-the foam mid layer is exactly the same as the foam mid-sole in my running shoes making them excellent rucking or short distance running boots. After 12 mile ruck, my feet were far less fatigued or sore from carrying a heavy load. Also, the weight difference between these and issue boots is significant (these boots are 1/2 the weight of issues boots). Compared to the OTB Desert Lites, there is only 0.3 lbs difference (2.0-OTB's vs 2.3 lbs for the EXO's), making this boot one of the lightest on the market. Also the toe box provides ample space for all 5 digits (no more wearing holes in the top of the boot lining by my big toe). Cons-multiple layers of leather and padding combine to make the boot a little stiff around the ankles until broken in (usually about 2-3 days it loosens up and becomes soft), but certainly more material around the ankles than the issues boots. Once I got used to it, the extra material on the upper provides additional ankle support during ruck marches. Also, if you are stationed in an area where parking lots turn into wanna be ice rinks in the winter, then traction may be a minor inconveinence. Traction is great on any other normal surface. However, on the flip side, there is less rubber, hence a lighter boot (trade-off I guess). Air flow is good, but again I just wish there was a little less paddding in the ankle area (good for climbing mtn's in 'Stan i guess). On the other hand, it provies some extra warmth during the winter and keeps my socks dry when it rains (more trade-off's). Perhaps a little less padding and leather layers around the ankles will further reduce weight in the next variant-EXOSpeed III's?. Overall, not perfect but pretty close, and by far the best boot I have found out there. I just ordered my second pair today (one for rucking/field use-the other for garrison) Light weight and running shoe tech makes this boot the best I have owned in 9+ years of service to include several deployments. Finally, the price is right since I have seen these on other sites for $124.00+ (thanks U.S. CAV for saving us some hard earned pay). So if you like your running shoes and wish you could wear them all day in ACU's (except it's against reg's and looks stupid), then do your feet a favor and buy these. SFC W U.S. Army

Excellent overall
Did a 10 mile ruck march in them last week. Very comfortable on the feet overall. My only qualm was that, about 4 miles in, the molded area around the ankle/back of foot began to cut into the bottom of my left ankle on each step (probably did this the entire walk but it started to hurt at mi 4). Found a sock/boot full of bloodstains once done. Didn't have prob with my right foot, so it's probably more of my walking posture, which I'll need to address next time with different socks or some extra padding. I don't have such problems when I wear standard issue, however, not nearly as comfortable overall as these Altamas.

With in the Regs
I have worn these boots for 2 years, up and down range. Their performance is excellent in the wear department, comfort outstanding (ran a 3 mile boot run in them) and best of all their within the Army regs.

Almost the best boot!
I would give these a 5 star rated except that the lacing could use some work. Not a boot you would want to put on and lace if you are in a hurry, like in a training environment where time is of the essence. I.E.-OSC, or anything of the sorts. Other than that it is by far the most comfortable boot I have ever worn. I have never found a boot that I could wear all day and be happy I am wearing them by the end of the day. These I can actually say that. The best boot hands down! Feels just like my favorite pair of running shoes. A must have if you do a lot of running in your boots.
