Excellent Boots at Any Price
I have had three pairs of the Lowa Uplander Desert Boots. Two without Goretex lining and one with. They are the most supportive and comfortable boots I have ever owned. They are extremely light weight and have the best gripping Vibrim soles I have ever experienced. I have worn them in both Iraq and Afghanistan. They are a bit warm in the hottest months but are bareable. These are not Goretex lined so that helps with the heat but your feet get wet in the rain. My only complaint is with the stock laces, the price and inability to re-sole them. I am getting ready to buy my third pair of Lowas but am considering the Desert Elites or 8 inch Zephyer. I wish they were American Made, but the quality is incredible (made in Slovakia).

A great boot, BUT...
I purchased a pair of these boots from another online retailer but wanted to comment. The boots fit very well, are very comfortable and lightweight, and not too hot for Afghanistan. But, I have 3 cons. 1) they are very stiff out of the box. Especially for the price. I think they will break in well but was surprised at them compared to other Lowa boots I have. 2) the insoles are pretty thin & I replaced them with another thicker brand name sole. 3)the laces they came with are pretty crappy. I replaced them right waway with tan parachute cord.
