adequate, sure
I bought these gloves almost 2 years ago and they serve me well. I like biking a lot and going on tours, but I also wanted a pair of gloves that could take on some shooting, abseiling, cold nights of work, etc. These gloves do just that. They protect from the elements decently. However, the reason they wouldn't be around 4.5 for me is they started to show their wear too soon: the pullback straps snapped fairly quickly, the grip on the finger padding ends faded quickly, the velcro straps have rapidly been losing their adhesiveness, and the critical function of the glove being the padding for palm impact (e.g. bumpy roads) went WAY too quickly. The gloves still protect, but have lost their optimum condition in about 2 months of less than moderate use. Still functional and content because their integrity remains intact, but not ideal. I'll be giving another pair a try.
