I had the MK 3 for close to 16 years and it has been my primary tool for teaching my students. After all these years it only requires 6 trips to a professional to sharpen it. I have many other knives, some buck lock backs, some straight blades and a few that I made. however the best thing I love about the MK 3 is that I don't have to work about it coming out of the sheath and the back end is just about the size of an average hammer and it has seen a lot of use. The handle gives me a nice grip and it doesn't feel like I don't have enough knife handle in my hand. Happy to see I can still get another one

A Tough Little Knife That Needs Some Work
The Navy Mk 3 is intended for divers, so I figured it to be a good knife to carry here in coastal Georgia around the salt marshes. The handle fits my large hands well, I like it better than the SOG Seal Pup I own, which costs about the same. The blade is 440 C stainless with some kind of funky black coating that rubs off on your hands. The edges are crude and unfinished (like most military-issue blades). With a file and a stone, you can have a good, tough knife for camping, hunting or self-defense.
