great product
I bought one of these pre-deployment for Iraq in 04 along with the quick release thumb strap and drop down leg panel. It served me well during my tour. Very good quality item. Tough material, kept my sidearm well protected and it held together through some hellish conditions. The only thing that could use some improvement is: The leg strap for the drop down leg panel needs to be a bit wider as well as the panel itself due to a little floppy back & forth motion while running.Other than that, a fine quality product.

As a military policeman, I carry a pistol more than most in the military. It's our primary weapon. My unit used to issue a holster similar to this, however, upon realizing you will never draw your firearm with a holster like this, in time to use it in the event of an emergency, we turned them back in for different ones. This holster is a horrible design, I highly do not recommend it, there are much better platforms for cheaper, and some around the same price. Serpa platforms have proved to be the best for most of us in my company, I have two, one for field usage, and one for law enforcement. It may be good for ranges, but when there's a target firing back, you want that weapon out faster than what this holster is capable of.

I agree that if you're in direct combat you would be better suited with a tactical holster. This however, is more versatile for changing activities since you can place it in many different positions and replace the flap with a thumbstrap. It wasn't my first choice, but since I don't want to buy a holster for every pistol I have, I can use it for most of them that don't have one. The thumbstrap makes it a lot more practical than the flap for direct combat or garrison duty. If you're just out int the field, the flap does a great job of keeping it clean.

My First Choice
I prefer this holster to the 'tactical drop leg' holsters that are so popular. This holster may not look as cool but it is significantly more versatile. I have this holster on the belt attached to my MOLLE vest. Dismounted, I carry the holster in the normal position. If I'm predominately riding in vehicles, I move the holster to a cross-draw position so that the weapon can be easily drawn from the sitting position in a vechicle. I also have the shoulder holster adaptor because I've found that when I'm in aircraft a lot, the shoulder holster is more comfort and better suited. And, I have both the flap and a strap for securing the weapon. Some times that big ass flap is useful. When it's not, I take it off and just use the strap with thumb release. This holster doesn't look like John Wayne but it does a great job of keeping your weapon in easy access. SGT Smith 445 CA BN

Not bad for standard use
This holster was issued to me when I first got my 9mm and its not a bad holster but id strongly suggest somthing more along the lines of a tactical holster for military use.

Excellent product. This holster holds up in heavy mud, rain, and snow. I use a Kimber .45, and this holster kept my baby clean and protected, even in heavy brush. After two years of field excercises and personal use, it still looks like new.
