Multi-purpose At Its Best
I aquired a black version [the NSN is 8465-01-523-9194 - FYI] and am very pleased with the overall design of the system. It is fully adjustable and fits very confortably. The Ambush can serve as a small-capacity pack with enough room in the zippered pocket for a number of small items without distorting the profile of the pack. The protective flap covering the hydration pack's fill cap also has a zippered pocket that it great for storing flat items such as maps, etc. In the zippered pocket I am currently carrying two [2] rifle cleaning kits [USGI], a pair of hearing protectors, a small spray can of CLP, a pair of Nomex gloves, a bore-snake, a couple of disassembly tools, and a lot of 550 cord. Even with all this stuffed in, the pack still appears to be empty. Great design!
