Tru-Spec vs MILSPEC
They will keep the water out but I don't recommend any activity that will test the durability of the material because it does seem to be made on the cheap and won't hold up to abrasions or slight tensions. I ordered a size larger as recommended by others and that was the right decision. However you will need to buy the matching suspenders/braces for these since the small elastic cord can only do so much before it breaks, they should've been included with the trousers instead of an optional accessory on backorder. The zipper leg openings work great which removes the need to remove footwear to don/doff the trousers. They are a shell only and will not keep you warm like the insulated MILSPEC version but a pair of sweatpants or polypro long uunderwear will take care of that issue. Overall, they are functional but not fully-functional like the MILSPEC version and I recommend them for light use only.

Wish there were more size options
I found these pants to be durable and comfortable. After reading other reviews I ordered a size larger and they fit well over regular BDU pants, and putting them on and removing them was easy with the leg zips. My one complaint is that these don't come in Long sizes. I normally wear Medium Long in BDU pants, and since these only come in Regular sizes they are a bit short, coming above my ankles when kneeling or sitting.

Runs Small
Pants run a bit small in size. I am over 6 ft tall and wear medium regular BDUs/ACUs. I ordered these in med/reg and found them restrictive in the waste and through the legs. I reordered in Large Regular.

The trouser is water proof and fits good with a belt. The first time I used the trousers to check about a four and a half mile stretch of trail that had been hit hard by some rain that we had. When I returned to the station I checked the gear and the left knee patch had become seperated from the seems, a factory flaw. Also it has no lining so it is not warm. Other than that it does keep the water at bay.
