1 Pair Should Have Taught Me
Posted by Brian
This is the second pair of these I have owned, but the first pair that are sage and the zipper. The boots dig into my heels where the zipper is, and hurts like all get out. I have worn them several times with thicker socks, and it still hurts. Also, the boots are bulky as all get out. Since these were issued boots, I am happy to say I at least did not spend my money on them. The first pair I owned were tan and no zipper, and no problem with the heel issue, they just fit small compared to other brands of boots.
The Best Of Bad Options

None of the boots that are currently available in the af sage green are terribly good, but this is probably the best of the lot. It is more comfortable than the belleville, and most importantly, it is side zip, which is a huge feature to me (why don't more companies make a side zip?!). Unfortunately, it appears that none of the af boots being produced, to include this one, use a female last (shoe lingo for template). Ergo, the heel is too large for most ladies' feet and you may get some slippage. Be advised: even though they may say that they are in women's sizes, what you will really get is the men's approximation and a unisex sizing. (You can verify this by looking on the tongue of this boot). These boots are clunky looking and not light, but I still say they are miles above the belleville in comfort. I will keep mine until a better option comes along.

These boots are overrated. Several people in my squadron recommended them as the best boots in the world, but when I got a pair, they pinched in the toe and slipped in the heel (even with inserts). So far, i've had better luck with the basic issue boots.
