the media reported on every little thing the way they do now. The media as a whole should not be allowed to get any current info, and ALL information should be heavily censored and delayed by a min of 6 months.

SPF,

I think you're wrong.  If all information were heavily censored, than the public would get their information from somewhere.  Let's say we could censor all media for six months.  Than we'd be asking why nobody cares if we're still at war.

The globalism of media is a reality.  Complaining about it is like complaining about the weather.

Whenever an attack happens somewhere else as in Mumbai, all police organizations go on high alert. When terror reaches into your home by way of the television in living color we begin to fear for our own safety. This is only human nature. The reason you hear about what our police services are doing is the government wants us to know we are being protected. The problem with security is that when it is effectively being applied you don’t get any results except for no problems. If you have a strong security system, you are looked at by a terror cell and they decide that you were a hard target, there is no way of knowing that they passed you by and for that matter why they passed you by. All you know is that you facility experienced no attack. This is why security managers have such a hard time in asking for larger budgets. If nothing happens they why should we upgrade our security?

All these cases of plots foiled are there so that you know you have been protected" chance favors the prepared mind "

There are only two occupations outside of the government mentioned in the Constitution - the military and the media.  Both were considered important enough to be mentioned by our founding fathers.  Because I swore an oath to defend the Constitution, I think the founding fathers are universally considered one of the most significant concentrations of geniuses collected at one point, in one time, in history, who am I to argue.

That being said, I think the media has a responsibility to report and know when not to report.  "To not tell the truth is not a lie" a wise old MSgt once told me.  Reporting how we are defeating threats to our nation's enemies should not be reported.  Reporting that we have defeated threats, should be reported as loud, as instantaneous and in as many media forums as possible.

I would rather be ashes than dust.
