My biggest fear is with ambulances......Its a fact that for the past three years terrorist have been actively surveilling Ambulance stations, crews, and fire station rescure squads...in order to learn how they go about their business every day.....

A ambulance would be the perfect weapon....Imagine if you will you take a typical box type anbulance and pack it to the gills with explosive ...toss in a few oxygen bottles to help boost the blast...You can fill a Box van like this with about 4,545 kilos of explosive....the explosive Danger Areas for break out as follows:

  1. Lethal air blast range 91 meters = 299 feet
  2. Min. Evacuation distance is 1,143 meters = 3750 feet
  3. Falling glass hazard distance is 1,143 meters = 3750 feet

Now people....Imagine what would happen if you took one of these Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices or VBIED and parked it at the entrance of a busy Emergency or Trauma Center and detonated it....You would lose your first string Emergency Services Personnel in one fell swoop...Now if you follow the MO of our enemies they would not just settle for just one of these evil devices I am sure they would have a coordinated attack on several hospitals at once not to mention sending one of these evil vehicles to say a busy shopping mall or large gathering of people like say to a football game or something along the same lines.

Who is going to stop a ambulance with lights and sirens from getting anywhere..my guess is NOBODY!

we need to develope a system whereby the ambulances get a specific color code on each call out....The responding police units will be sent via their onboard computer the color code for that particular call so that they can verifiy the ambulance which responds to that particular call...This system could be based along the lines of the color code system used by all Police departments so that they can identify there undercover operatives at the scene of a disturbance ......This is not rocket science folks just good old fashion Operational Security....or OPSEC.....

That sounds like the most dirty, underhanded, dispicible trick I've ever heard of. Perfect for a terrorist. You're right. They need some kind of code they can use so the hospital will know who is coming and whether they're carrying injured or something else...

When he gets to heaven, to St Peter he will tell, Just one more soldier reporting sir, I've served my time in Hell

The only problem with using a code system is operational security in hospitals is not very good. I can state this as fact as I work security at a hospital and staff is very good about keeping patient info secure but everything else dosen't work so well. Also most hospitals do not spend the time or money to prepare like they should. Good idea but needs total cooperation to be affective.

Once a vehicle is on-scene with an explosive, there's no stopping it.  What would the officers do, fire at the driver or tires without absolute certainty that it's a terrorist attack?  There's no reasonable way to protect against this type of attack other than to hunt down terror cells and prevent them from operating at all.  Deny them explosives, deny them members, deny them safe operating locations.  When the bomb is rolling, it's too late.
